At WHOM, we believe that every woman has the right to quality healthcare & autonomy over her own health, no matter what her circumstances may be.
Women are displaced for many reasons - conflict, environment, culture, politics, trafficking, homelessness - leaving them vulnerable & without access to clinical services.
OUR WORK
WHOM works alongside NGO partners to support displaced women's access to health information, education, and referral pathways.
We also provide the glue between patients requiring specific medical referrals or to other NGO services using our network of medical contacts.
Our outreach sessions address the health topics that most commonly affect the women we meet, including:
Family planning and contraception
Menstruation, perimenopause, and menopause
Breast health awareness
Postpartum wellbeing
Recovery from gender-based violence and harmful practices
Sexual health and STI awareness
Common gynaecological conditions
EDUCATION SESSIONS
We believe that women should be empowered with knowledge about their own bodies.
When they are ripped from their communities, they lose access to knowledge sharing with other women.
Our outreach work allows out team to engage with women on a one-to-one basis to share knowledge, answer questions, and connect them with further support.
We also collaborate with our NGO partners to provide women's health education sessions, workshops & discussion events in safe places, to show, share & demonstrate medical information in a group setting.
See presentations of our most common women's health topics here, and reach out to us at info@whom.international if you are interested in having us hold an education event!
